What does Scotland have to do with Uganda? by NOLAWitch2003-08-26 06:15:08
Hee hee! by breezeblock 2003-08-26 06:28:02
It isn't mentioned in the clicky I posted above but along with awarding himself the Victoria Cross (The highest military medal award here and only given to soldiers who show *extreme* bravery in the face of the enemy. A bit like your CMH) Idi Amin also declared himself the "King of Scotland". I remember him doing it back in the '70s. The newscoverage was hilarious. He had a load of his troops dressed in British guards uniforms (including Bearskit hats) and kilts marching past him playing the bagpipes *very* badly. I felt most sory for the troops having to wear that uniform in Uganda which was 130 degrees in the shade. :o)
