Argh, plus a SOTM by vetitice2003-08-24 13:55:29

This one I could have done without. by vetitice 2003-08-24 19:34:39
I made the mistake of believing the boss.. I mean, he did DESIGN the system.

"Oh, sure, the pod controller sends a message to the Tx controller to change frequency and stuff. Just need to change the protocol from the one we're using to the new transmitter." Probably a day or so's work, plus testing...

Unfortunately he thought the pod control handled talking to the control panel, moving cursors on the screen and all that stuff. Unfortunately it doesn't. He had the decency to look surprised when I told him the project tripled in size thanks to that.

And if it isn't done by Tuesday, I get to spend the week in LA. Looks like someone else will be in San Diego. Which is nice. Also looks like we now need to find 4 days of babysitting for my son, since there's no way this will all get done tonight and tomorrow.

I'm giving up on the control panel and playing with the RS-232 bit. Sounds more fun :-D

Agree with the quote, usually :)
