I haven't used them in Slackware, but I was having similar problems when I was running Debian with those drivers. And I'll play around some more with the "use" key. I'll have to find FireballMatt's server... (I've been in and out all day, and won't be here most of the rest of the evening--that's why it took me so long to respond...)
