...and still hasn't finished.
If you're all dead-set on a major, great. Bt don't worry too much if you decide to change majors midstream; most people do, at least twice, if I remember the stats correctly.
Go and talk to your professors, about everything if possible. They have a huge number of students, so make yourself known somehow; it'll help in the long run. You might find yourself really stuck on something.. and if it's the first time, your teacher may or may not have time for the kind of help you need. If they know you as a good student (at least, if they know your name too :) ) that can help dramatically. In addition, later on they may even be a resource for you to fall back on if you're stuck in a later class i.e. being able to help you from a different perspective than your current teacher.
Also, if anything ever goes wrong and you really need a favor from them, if they know you it's *MUCH* easier to get their help. Say you need an extension on your midterm project (or whatever, insert big, important assignment here) because you spilled coffee on your disk containing all your work... the prof. is much more likely to help you if a) they know your name and b) they feel you're a good student interested in their class (regardless whether you are or not, make them think this).
Um.. beyond that, do your work ;) Have fun, join groups and do stuff outside your dorm... do not be a dorm rat, at least get out once in awhile. If you've got any other questions, you can always drop me a line in my diary or something.. I may not have an answer, but I've got a sympathetic Net connection :) |
