HHEEEEEEELLLLP!!! i broke my linux... by duesentrieb2003-08-24 06:10:01
Is it single boot or duel? by Celticess 2003-08-24 09:43:17
If it's duel you can make a grub boot disk easily enough and change the grub.conf file to match your needs. I think tho there is a safemode for redhat. Or pull out your redhat install disk one and run it as if reinstalling but hit f1 and tell it "rescue"

Now this is sometimes why it's better to compile from scratch than use an rpm... but usually redhat type distros rpm package managers warn you if there will be some problem. My guess is it conflicted with another lib.

If possible you could run knoppix from cd(which is a debian related distro if I remember right). However that still afik doesn't change the fact you have a redhat rpm problem. If using install disk and "rescue" doesn't work your SOL... Because redhat versions need their redhat version rescue afik in the sense that your dealing with an *rpm* not a tar.gz or bz2.

With gentoo at least I can specify slots so can have majority of things running in multiple versions if needed and switch them as I need them.
