Hmm. Looks like the idiots at RedHat don't think that a statically linked shell is an important tool. At least, I can't find one in RedHat 8. Your best bet, then, may be to boot from a rescue cd and re-install the original rpms. I'd use the RedHat install cd in rescue mode, because the rpm is already there (although you may have to dig around to find it). Pass the --root /mnt/sysimage --dbpath /mnt/sysimage/var/lib/rpm options to rpm so that it knows where to find your root filesystem (assuming that your rescue cd mounts your root filesystem at /mnt/sysimage).
