there should be some kind of system recovery feature. It _may_ be possible to boot this from CD only, then it _may_ be possible to reinstall the old glib. I'm not a Red Hat user though so I could be leading you up the garden path here. I tend to leave glibc well alone for the reasons you've just discovered, updating the entire distro revision rather than risking installing something I can't guarantee will work.
