| is being a gun-lover synonymous with taking the Republican view of gun control?
I'm a Republican. I'm also a veteran, and I'm a gun-owner. I'm also certified to carry concealed here in the state of Tennessee. I believe there should be certain restrictions in the ownership of guns, however, I also believe that there are far too many gun control laws on the books already. So, despite being a Republican, I don't agree with what might be considered the standard Republican viewpoint of gun control.
There needs to be more responsibility by the owners of guns - unfortunately, our society (not just in the USA, but in a lot of the "civilized" countries) feels that they should no longer have to bear any responsibility - for anything. It seems that they feel that their government should be responsible for them - rather than responsive to them. Governments love to be handed power - and sadly, there's a lot of people out there willing to hand it off - with nothing in return except a nanny state to watch over them.
Hell, I should really sleep more before I try to type out answers.
In response to your question - no - being a gun-lover (let's try the term "gun-owner") is not synonymous with taking the Republican view of gun control. The Republicans in Congress and Senate still want to take them away. As for me - it's an old cliche, but it's tried and true - gun control is being able to hit your target. |
