OK, well I haven't checked your spoiler yet, but it occurs to me that R could represent a leading zero....checked, doesn't help a bit. Well, not in particular. Seems I need to assume that more than one letter can represent the same number (which isn't excluded in your explanation, I think). Going on that assumption leads us immediately to the trivial soluion of R=O=M=E=0 (zero).
Of course, there are multiple answers since in this configuration R can be anything.
