Question to those that use *.img in nix by Celticess2003-08-23 16:29:12
The solution is easy : by saeckereier 2003-08-23 16:52:47
Just use the "dd" command (nned to be root or have write access to /dev/fd0 (the floppy device)) As always, it's alittle easier in Linux as the basic tools are always included :-) just have to find them. you could accomplish your task doing something like tihs :
~# dd if=bootdisk.img of=/dev/fd0
This would be it.. Just substitute bootdisk.img with your image file This command takes the infile, specified by if and writes it to the outfile, being /dev/fd0 (flooppy drive a:) this tool is very good for example to extract bootsectors and thing s like that as you can also write a blocksize and count (hint: take a look at 'man dd') but it could also be done as easily as just catting the image :
~# cat bootdisk.img > /dev/fd0
I hope that helped you !
