Open Source: Where's the money? by Didactylos2003-08-23 07:33:37

Try the view of the scientific community... by Romandas 2003-08-23 15:27:20
Scientists do not get paid for their ideas, they get paid for developing them.. and generally good scientific practice/research is open source in nature. Their payment is by earned reputation, prestige, and ideally they get paid for researching something through grants or a corporation wanting something developed.

Of course, bad scientists don't get very far with this, since their work is crap, thus they gain a negative reputation.

But, this doesn't really refute your claim of 'no money in developing'.. there isn't unless you're good at it. But then, if you create crap, why should you be paid for crap?
