And one moderator took it upon hirself to stop the whole thread, even though nobody was complaining. That person did so in the worst possible way: a vague "announcement" (that was actually just a suggestion) as the final comment of hir post in reply to the post that hir was reading when the decision to stop the thread occurred. Hir then started moderating anyone else who responded anywhere in that thread. Hir is still sore about being told that hir should have handled it much better, and complained about the suggestions for doing so.
