with the system. It found the network card with gentoo livecd 1.4 release. But while it did that and invoked dhcp it didn't see the outside ... so I manually set the ip later and it still wouldn't... before that I tried ifconfig, toms root boot, etc but nothing in nix would find it... I was also having usb problems with the keyboard... finally got that fixed. But I'm way over tired at this point so the machine is getting mandrake provided lilo works this time on it.
