Exactly...this kid was a minor, and by his very definition not mature.

There are ALWAYS limits to freedoms. Freedom of speech doesn't mean freedom to slander. Freedom of movement doesn't mean that you can go in and out of the country as you wish without being searched.

The problem is that reactionary people with power are dealing with the problems in thos restriction too harshly. They arrested a kid for -a note-, not a bomb. They ban people from flying because of a name; because they share that name with someone who did something wrong. They attempt to watch and monitor everyone when they can fix 99.999% of the problem by carefully watching on specific criteria. They get around the rights and freedoms afforded to all Americans by creating the ability to REMOVE the citizenship of people born in America. They censor the main media outlets so that you don't see all the bad things that have happened and can live in a blissfully ignorant world.

And if it continues then, like so much of the world, the people who complain may disappear.

Live with a few deaths, a few losses that end up to be less than the number of people killed by lightning, keep the freedoms for all. And that way you will have the chance to stop abuses of power before they decide that all people named Jason Garner are a security risk.
