Look, I'm sure we'd all love to have the freedom to do anything we want.
The problem is, other people abuse those freedoms to the detriment of others. When that happens, they ruin it for everyone, and in order to stay alive, freedoms are sacrificed so they're not abused.
I think it's a pain in the ass that I can't carry my pocketknife onto an airplane. But it makes me feel better that nobody else is going to have one, either, and proceed to stab someone with it when there's no way out.
If you'd prefer to live free or die, that's fine. That's up to you. Me, I'd rather live than die early, free. We're not going to see eye-to-eye on this one, and I'm not so arrogant that I'm going to try to twist you around to my way of thinking.
Even if I was, there's no need to. What I want is happening anyway, and likely will whether you like it or not. |
