and now I find out it's not Mozilla causing the problem! (unless Mozilla has effectively infected all my other internet programs).

When I tried using IE instead (even to go to mozilla's site to look for updates), the exact same thing happened.

Something internet related on my mac is absolutely fried right now and is refusing to cooperate, and norton refuses to acknowledge that anything's wrong.

sigh.

I guess I'll start a new TLP after the rollover to see whether anyone can help with this...
