Migraines are a bad thing. by Silvermoon822003-07-11 20:33:55

Mine are usually measured in hours since I respond well to the tripans. (I average about 10 bad ones per month).

The rule of thumb with Migraines is supposed to be: (as told by my Dr... "Call for help when its worse than the worst one you've ever had."

If you're looking at multiple day migraines that happen very infrequently, then it may be worth your while to visit the Dr. every time you get one and let them break it. I tend to know my migraines and recognize them. Take care during yours to remember what they are like so that the next time you can recognize them as well. (might be hard with them being infrequent).

If you respond badly to triptans, ask your neurologist about ergot alkoloids (not sure if they are released yet) or about Midrin (older but may work if the others dont).

Cycling over several days would seem to be either cluster or rebound. The Dr. would have to figure that out.

My symptoms are fairly similar to yours, but it happens about 2.5 times a week... Its not even a matter of concern to me. Once your motor control is significantly impaired though, I'd be heading to the Dr. even if you know its only a migraine.
