Double application of single standard by etwas_egal 2003-07-11 17:26:19
I have underage kids. They have to do what I say. I do not have to do what they say. How is this not a double standard?

I am held responsible in society at large for their actions. They are not held responsible for mine. The privlige of setting rules come from the responsibility for the acts of others.

Illiad is held responsible for the content of this site, in society at large. He makes rules for us when we are posting to his site, which he is held responsible for. We do not make any rules for him.

Single standard: authority is the natural companion of responsibility, and responsibility is the moral companion of authority.
