Consumer Reports is just as much a business as Nightline. I would disagree with your characterization of most of the media as conservative. IMO, much of the media, especially electronic media, is hardly better than Jerry Springer. They say what they think the public wants to hear, whether that's "They're blowing up abortion clinics." or "They're trying to pass laws allowing 15 year-old girls to kill their babies." The media tries it's hardest to oppose all radical views (right and left) and dodge the neutral issues to avoid offending anyone. If they can't avoid a neutral issue, then they try to make it radical.
p.s. Sorry I took so long to reply, but my internet access went down several hours ago and I just got it back. It's a wonder I'm still (kind of) sane. :)
