Something I found out about the act that I object strongly to as a parent -- the NCLB act requires all schools to provide personal information on students to military recruiters, and it also requires military recruiters have unfettered access to set up booths and distribute propaganda on school grounds. Now, what exactly does that have to do with educating our youth or helping them to achieve higher test scores?

As for the test scores themselves, they're already being proven not to work. The teachers are teaching their students how to pass the state-required exams, not teaching them how to learn to eventually fend for themselves as functioning members of the world. The standardized tests don't teach good judgement, self-determination, or any kind of skills necessary to turn a child into an independent-thinking, functioning adult. Oh, but it seems they don't want independent-thinking, functioning adults; they want willing recruits to be cannon fodder for the next war.
