Because everyone always votes for "the big two". there's not enough support for the smaller parties, because everyones always playing reactionist politics. According to what you're saying, you'd vote against the Republicans even if they were benefiting the country in every way, just on the basis that they had control of both the senate and house. You'd vote against them because it's not balanced. As it happens, the Republicans don't seem to be doing what you'd like your politicians to do, but would you still vote against them if they were doing exactly what you wanted to do and were still in the majority?
