In a democracy it's very possible that one group CAN get complete power. If you do something like pass a law, then you're not linger democratic.
Also, Reps and Dems aren't the only ones out there. There are multiple indepedent candidates, as well as small little parties who don't have the clout of the big ones, so you seldom hear about them.
And him voting for someone, esp if he doesn't believe them better, is even worse. He should be voting for whoever *he* things will best represent HIS views of how the country should be run. If that means he votes democrat, great. If he votes, Rep, good too. If he goes Green, wonderful.
What's important is that he votes for the person who most embodies HIS views, regardless of their party.
