How can anyone know any percentage of all knowledge? Do you know the exact mass of every grain of sand on the fourth planet orbiting around epsilon eridani? 'All knowledge' is an immeasureable quantity.
And no, I can't completely discount the existance of God. No real atheist would even try. But the principle is that as long as there's no reason to believe there is a god, why should we believe he exists? As long as you have no proof or blue bananas growing in the upper atmosphere, why should you believe there are? In order for something to be a reasonable hypothesis, there\ must be some hint which gives us a reason to prefer that hypothesis over another, chosen completely at random. The task of convincing (at first) is on the person who provides the hypothesis, not on the person who doesn't believe it. However, when evidence(not proof, proof is absolute, and rare) is supplied, only an idiot rejects it without counter-evidence that he deems more credible. |
