I must say that German is a nice language, although I prefer listening to French and Spanish (eventhough I don't understand those...maybe that's why).
And yes, american movies tend to let German sound stupid.
But that is to be expected from a movie industry that never ever bothers to even TRY to get things correct.
I mean, I am Dutch (hench my knowlegde of german) and I have heard German actors playing Dutch persons over and over again...
NO, a German accent is NOT the same as a Dutch accent...
To make matters worse...in some movies the so called Dutch people not only have a german accent, but actually speak german to oneanother. (I thinks the movie is called assasin. Sly and antonio banderas).
And yes, I know, sometimes a Dutch guy get to play a german in a movie...and doesn't do any good to the language either...
Holiwood, I ask you, is it so hard to do 10 minutes of research?
I mean, just ask me next time, I can tell the difference for you ;)
So if you want to know how german sound, get a radio/tv and listen to a german station, and I mean a real one, not a foreign one making radio for germans...

Oh Catharsis, just one other thing, German might be hard, apparently Dutch is harder...
reason is simple: Dutch and German have...ehm... (I had to look it up) Fälle (cases, like nominative and dative), but the germans actually still have to learn them. That's easy (yes it is)
Why? In dutch we have these cases as well, you just don't get to learn them, you have to remember what to do with each and every word!
