as well as each other. Yea, it's a particle - but particles are NOT solid. Solidity is a rather larger scale property that's a mathematical side effect of the interactions of the fields of various forces - I guess it's the original "impenetrable force field". *Some* of the particles are mutually exclusive, but not terribly, and photons aren't at all; and thus two photon beams tend to interfere instead of collide.

Now a related issue which I find both curious and terribly pleasing, is that the earth and I have sufficient mutual repulsion that I do not fall through it (or other solids) on a regular basis. That's a dense set of waves....
