I was lucky, normally - I used "shelie" but about the worst I got was being accused of being a shel script or something. But then I tended not to go into mainstream channels - my r/l friends and I just stuck to our own channel. I only really irc'd as an easy way to chat with my friends in England after I moved over here... These days I go in once in a while to my webhost's channel.
