Whenever I hear "a/s/l" I always remember something that happened one day about 4 years ago when I was chatting with my then boyfriend on IRC. I was in Australia, and he was in the UK - we'd been friends in r/l before I moved out here.

Some random person DCC'd me, and seemed like he knew me. I'd never spoken to him in my life, but I guess he got my nic confused with someone else. But he was feeling chatty, so asked me "a/s/l?". I was busy talking to Matt, so didn't want to chat, so I told him exactly that. Then he asked if this was a internet bf or r/l. I told him r/l. We stopped talking then, but I'd told Matt about him in our chat, and Matt started talking to him. The poor guy ended up getting so confused... Because Matt used to live in Australia, even though we met in England, and the guy just couldn't get his head around the fact that I was living in Australia, he was Australian living in England, and we were dating... hehehe

hmmmm

Maybe you had to be there ;)
