Humans dress it up a bit with language, but it's based on the same physical urges. Do you know what the word "primate" means? I used that term specifically to distinguish between, say, porcupines. While porcupines may also engage in this sort of behavior, it is not something I'd care to speculate on at this time.
If a creature is beaten in the wild, it is eaten. So of course it doesn't make a noise. You seem to get cause and effect terminally reversed.
Humans aren't "retaining" dignity. They are recovering from fear and terror. Part of that recovery could be to REGAIN some of their cockiness.
