is a second language is no reason to mangle it. I have written English better than many others my age (in high school, no less) within six months of moving to an English-speaking country. Not spoken - that took about five years. (And I still have a detectable accent). But I don't think there is any excuse for native English writers (barring certain learning handicaps) not to write properly.
