from the checkout lanes to the lingerie section in the Women's Clothing department. Of course, displaying super-models barely out of their teens wearing only their undies sells product, so that's o-kay.
Now don't get me wrong; I'm no prude. I think the female body, in all of its varied wonders and forms, is a work of Divine Art to be praised and enjoyed. I also have absolutely zero problem with store displays.
However, blatant hypocrisy is a bit more than I care to stomach. If Wal-Mart has seen fit to declare Cosmo and its ilk unsafe for public display, then they need to apply that same standard throughout the entirety of their stores -- no "salacious" displays of any sort should be permitted. That is how one stands up for a principle.
And, since we're protecting tender young eyes from the "corrupting" influence of the female form, let's move a step further along in our efforts. See this suggestion. |
