I'll try it out (don't know why I didn't think of that), but it still results in (I checked the actual sizes) a 92592 x 57678 left-join. I'm here optimizing a program I wrote last summer that got "fixed" earlier this year by a contractor. So far I've knocked off an hour of the nearly 4 hours it took (after her modifications) to run on these "brand-new" 733MHz machines... a do-while loop to go through the 1.5 million record table, updating the "year" to ensure that it's 4 digits!?!? C'mon!
