The gun industry says it can't crack down on crooked dealers because ATF data are not circulated outside law enforcement agencies. So, circulate it. If the information were widely publicized, manufacturers could not plead ignorance. And it would be easier for law enforcement agencies to trace weapons used in crimes.
Why the hell should it be circulated outside the law enforcement agencies? Law enforcement Is Their Job! If the ATF isn't doing its job, why pass it off onto the gun manufacturers? They are doing Their jobs. Make the ATF do their own job. Yell and scream about them failing to do it, but don't blame the gun manufacturers for something that isn't their fault or their responsibility.
