'Normal' nick names are usually variations of the person's name: "Chuck" - from Charles "Lou" - from Louis or Louise Some get a little strange: "Dick" from Richard, but could be closer to "Rich". Never did understand that one. "Jack" for John also escaped me - unless there was more than one John in the family. "Butch" comes from - where? (my childhood nickname) "Jo-Jo" from 6314729 just doesn't seem to compute to the character.
