UFie Idol is a singing competition that any UFie may enter.
Here's the deal: You record yourself singing and through your own means send either an .MP3 or .OGG file to the server(s) which will be set up later by volunteers.
We'll keep the registration process going for a week or two so that people can get over their "stage fright"
Anyone that makes *ANY* unpleasant comments regarding someone's singing (with the exception of the judges) that did not themselves participate, will be *severely* LARTed.
Saying: "my singing sucks" or "you don't want to hear me sing" or even "everyone who has heard me sing dies a horrible death" are not valid excuses for not joining the contest. Generally when people say things like this they aren't trying to convince other people so much as they are trying to convince themselves.
Saying: "I just don't want to" or "I've had my voice box surgically removed" ARE valid excuses.
All sorts of music that have intelligible lyrics are acceptable. The judges themselves will have to make rulings on any serious heavy metal submitted. However, vocal renditions of songs such as "popcorn" or chopsticks would be acceptable.
Also, if you feel like you can play your own accompaniment, you are more then welcome to do so.
Whether or not rap will be accepted will be on a case to case basis. This is by merit of the fact that rap is technically NOT singing, as singing is defined the holding of vowel sounds for a period of time, whereas rap is more an emphasis of consonants.
