It's about time by pecosdave 2006-11-19 12:55:59
Finally the concealed carry laws are going to allow you to legitimately concealed carry in Texas, thats if this bill passes. Personally I'm for it, the people that get their concealed carry permit are not the criminals, they are the people that are responsible and that other citizens should want carrying, like a police officer.

One place in particular where they are banned is the bus. How do you concealed carry if you can't even get to where you're going? That wasn't mentioned, but I hope it's covered.

Churches I feel should be left up to a congregational decision, not the laws.

Bars: that one makes sense. Keep the ban there.

Hospitals, why? They're like post offices, when people go into hospitals to shoot them up it's not a concealed carry legal, it's a pissed patient/worker. Perhaps a visitor/concealed carry doctor could put the loonies that shoot up hospitals down. BTW, the medical field is top of the list for violent employee retaliation, ahead of even the post office. They try to keep that hushed.

amusement parks, makes sense to ban. Mostly because you don't want guns themselves becoming projectiles when flying off or roller coasters and the like, they may be picked up by the wrong individuals or cause other blunt instrument type trauma. Anything loosely holstered should be ban from amusement parks, or the rides anyways, however they should have a place to check your gun at the entrance. Six Flags Astro World here in Houston will hold your knives/leathermans and stuff like that, I don't know about guns but they may be covered and should be. They're not very good at finding them when you present a claim ticket, usually takes them 45 minutes to track your knife down. I've never had to check one but EVERY time my grandpa and uncle bring theirs to the gate. Mine stays in the vehicle.

Sporting events, they're bigger rowdier bars. They should be ban from their, but unlike bars should be required a place to check your weapon.
