Omnisicence is not attainable in our current state, and only omniscience could give an irrefutably correct answer to the question.
However, it is the human condition that we must make choices based on limited information and time. Such choices can have an ethical basis. Whether or not such a choice is "correct" is often begging the question; the real question (and I must apologize that my phrasing did not make this clear) would be to each respondant "based on your own ethics, what path would you choose to steer in the described scenario." Yes, every resulting answer must, almost by definition, be considered as correct. What is interesting, though, is why each individual makes the choise s/he does. At heart, this is the true dialogue of ethics -- not so much what is right or wrong, but why we make the choices we do, and what bases can help us to make the best possible choices. |
