I find it amusing that we are so eager to manipulate gene pools when it comes to plants or animals, but reticent when it comes to our own. There is very little difference in outcome between breeding animals over several generations and splicing a gene to produce a certain trait. The only difference is time. The type of person most resistant to new technologies is one who doesn't really understand them or has bought some form of dogma that prohibits them.
