I was asthmatic when I played. You take a hit or two of ventolin(sabutol) and then play. I knew several others that were also asthmatics. And I was told I was quite good by someone in the VSO at the time when I was playing a bari sax and piccalo. Bari sax and piccalos also take alot of air to play and aren't easy to play for that reason. Only reason I gave up playing years ago was the injury to my left hand. I can't do the fast stuff anymore. But sometime hopefully this year I plan on getting a flute again as it's a decient solo instrument and I like the sound.
