Number one, the sound just doesn't "fit" with my brain... certain things I just develop a mental block against (for example, anything that smells like cinnamon) and bagpipe sound happens to be one of them. Number two, I'm not sure my poor asthmatic lungs could handle bagpipes if they require all the lung power they sound like they do. Number three, I'm trying to pick an instrument that won't lead to excessive strife with parents... I seem to recall a few years ago dad saying he'd support my sister and I choosing whatever instruments we wanted to play as long as they weren't bagpipes...
