You can always say that anything resembing evolution was planted by a deity wanting to mess with people's minds. Oooohhh... Thought occurred to me (long after everyone else, I'm sure) Evolution is God's Matrix - it gives people an alternative explaination so only the faithful can see past it to the truth. This, of course, puts god in the roll of the Matrix Architect, and I would imagine that angels are the squiddies.
