Latest there is 2.4.21-rc3. Unless I'm misunderstanding what you meant?

nevdull -- are you sure the patch downloaded without corruption? There are .sign files at that site that might be of use, if you have a PGP program installed. Did you get your patch file from kernel.org, or somewhere else?

I got the .bz2 version (off that last link), then did (from the linux-2.4.20 directory) bzcat ../patch-2.4.21-rc3.bz2 | patch -Np1, which worked without complaining.
