| I've two custom bead looms. One is 2ft by 2.5 ft and the other is 18" x 4ft. I usually get my beads from BeadWorks but occasionally I pick ones up from the craft stores/sections around. I've used counted cross stich patterns to make beads, and graph paper to make my own designes. I've also done beading on bottles. Currently tho I've only got one project on the loom and can't find it's pattern(I started it before my daughter died and so it got set to the side for quite some time). Here is a pic of one of the other bead things (Bastet - Egyptian Cat Goddess) I did that I tried to scan and put up on the web. The beads are opaque metallic gold, electric blue, and sold black. They are seed beeds and the finished dimensions were 4x9 I think(it's put away in my art stuff so I'd have to dig it out to know for sure). I tatted the ends and was going to finish it but mounting it on brass rods.
When I graduated my art teacher encouraged me to go on with things. I did get accepted to pasadena arts center and wanted to study automotive prototype design. But the sheer cost of it and complications(getting a visa, etc as I'm canadian) was a bit much so I never did go. I occasionally do art still when I'm in the mood and at some point I hope to get a watcom graphire2 and play with it on the computer.(I've used a tablet before and do ok but without one I'm not the greatest at computer related artwork... I'm more a hands on, off computer kind of art person). Here is some of my old artwork from back in the 80's. |
