a few years ago our school got new computers, and I was happy, cause they were Pentium IIIs, and had CD and ZIP drives. They ran NT4.0 and everything was just cool. Of course, refresh rate was 60. I can just tell by looking at a screen if it's 60 or not. Like you said, I actually look a bit away from the monitor, and you can see the flicker, which it doesn't do at 75Hz (hehe aah I'm giving away computer underground secrets here, don't tell anybody)
So I just right click, go into Display properties, and change it. I'd say take it to 75, no more, if the monitor takes it, leave it alone, why mess with school computers ? 75 is ok with me.
So ya, then the school installed Win2K on the PentiumIIIs, which was a good and a bad idea in a way. Good that Win2K, bad that it runs sloooow. You logon, and wait 2 minutes or so for it to show the desktop. |
