... it would work like the DVD Forum, which administers the DVD standard. Basically, the various major (and some smaller) companies would have a representative in a forum that would develop and administer the game system standard. Then they would take a royalty from every system and game sold, thus funding the forum and insuring compatibility. Kinda like the 3D0, except this would actually work. :)
