As far as I know, in the US house insurance doesn't usually include the car, although it may include possessions you have in the car. You can also sometimes get discounts if you buy more than one type of insurance from the same place (house/car, renter's/car, etc.) And I am required to send in proof of insurance in order to renew my car's license.
