Free and/or Open vs. Proprietary Software by Silvermoon822003-04-24 12:48:52

Actually Open Source can work under capatilism by desertrat66 2003-04-24 13:19:42
Red Hat has a good business model for this, instead of your product being your software your product is the service you provide for that software. My experiences with open source are that while it can be a P.I.T.A. to get running, bug fixes, improvements, and tailoring it to fit your own specific needs is much easier to accomplish. Vs. Closed source where you ask for something only to see it implemented years after you found another solution.
