Windows 2000 internal version is Microsoft Windows 5.0, as you said is NT4 kernel based, Windows XP internal version is Microsoft Windows 5.1, the 0.1 there is the added crap like the bubblegum look and alpha enabled icons, not much difference.
Windows 2000 may look slower than XP while playing games, but thats only because 2000 is optimized for networking while XP is not, but if you spend 30 minutes tweaking the Windows 2000 registry and stuff you will get a very fast OS that doesnt try to send information to Microsoft everytime internet is detected. |
