and I didn't say "Republican" ... you can be conservative without being Republican. There are actually very very few liberals I have met who do more than talk alot. They very rarely get out there and *DO* or help. I've met tons of people who say they are liberal and seem only good for holding onto signage at one protest or another... ask them to work and help someone else work and *poof* there's another grand protest that they must attend. They'll travel miles to protest something and spend money to do so, but won't spend the time or money to clean up an elderly neighbor's house or pick up trash from a highway shoulder. That's not *big* enough.

Conservatives I know are for the most part quiet about what they do. They just show up and help, or get people jobs, or get the area cleaned up. They don't blow on about it, they don't put up *look at me!* signs or invite the press. And I've seen this time and time again across 2 decades of non-profit volunteering and work in SC, NE, WA, CO and CA (places I've lived).

I think it's a nasty and misleading stereotype to lump someone who is politically conservative into a massive homogenous term. That term used in that way are definately a hot-button issue for me.
