First of all, Nintendo selling it's share of Rare to Microsoft seemed like the most horrible mistake ever. I'm playing Conker's Bad Fur Day at home right now and I can honestly say it's the most entertaining platform game I've ever played. My brother in law is playing my copy of Killer Instinct Gold all the time. My daughter loves Ditty Kong Racing, all Rare titles and more than just cause for buying a Nintendo 64 in the past. Nintendo sold that portion, but do to unforseen turns of events Sega became "Platform Neutral" and took on the role of a game developer bailing from the hardware market. Good for us Nintendo types, because I always like Sega Games, but I never really liked the hardware other than the Game Gear. It was a saving grace. I bought a Game Boy Advanced and Sonic the Hedgehog for llohl while she was in the hospital after the baby was born. Since then the daughter has all but comendeared it for herself. With Sega helping out Nintendo continues to be a viable competitor. A Game Cube is on my purchase agenda with the Sonic games amoung the first priorities for purchase. If Microsoft gets them to it's going to have to be classic gaming, maybe a PS/2 (which never really has drawn my desire, even from the PS/1 days). I can't buy an X-Box for religious reasons. The TV will mostly likely have to end it's days as a video game monitor (not counting a PC plugged into it) for anything but retro gaming if this keeps up.
