I tend to get the first reaction every time. by Tomo 2003-04-24 04:18:16
I've usually already tried most obvious things.

Although I've only called a helldesk three times, so it's not exactly a big sample.

The first time I called for a very simple reason - the driver CD for my TV Card was damaged out-of-the-box, and I wanted a replacement. At the time I didn't have a phoneline so downloading wasn't an option.
The stupid sod wouldn't believe me, even when it took about 5 minutes for Windows to mount the CD. (And it still wouldn't read from it)

So I rang back and got a different guy. New CD, no problem.

Last time I remember the helldesk guy saying "Erm, whenever you say 'That's novel' I get worried"

Something my brother installed on my machine had nuked all the Windows networking stuff - so ipconfg didn't run properly anymore, along with several other things.
